JUNIOR RUGBY UNION
CLUB

Griffith University Colleges Knights Rugby Club is a traditional family-orientated rugby club with an active membership built around families and development of young adults. Our club was founded in 1987 and has developed considerably over the past six years into the most successful senior club on the Gold Coast. Our club is also the fastest growing Gold Coast Junior Rugby clubs in the past four years.

Like all rugby clubs our work is carried out by dedicated volunteers and our equipment is purchased from our resources, donations and sponsorship. Most other operating expenses are raised from continuous fundraising activities. The Knights colours were traditionally green and gold from the outset in 1987 and shifted to black and red to reflect our affiliation with Griffith University in 2015. This shift provided a focus on the development of our young men and women which is one of our core values today. Our 2023 results further support this with Premier Grade Champions and Gold Coast Rugby Club Champions.

OUR JUNIOR
DEVELOPMENT

The aim of our rugby program is not only to teach our members to become capable rugby players or supporters, but to also provide them with a community-minded upbringing. Rugby offers a safe, friendly and welcoming environment for you and your family. Our focus is on having fun, teaching and enhancing skills and emphasising community awareness being a wider part of a club. Our rugby juniors, women’s teams and men’s teams are an integral part of the Knights however all members and supporters are crucial to the success of our club.
Under our 2025 Strategic Plan, our vision, motto and values are set out below:

Vision – To develop people who are capable, high achievers and positive contributors to our club.
“One Team, One Club”!
Motto – Help your mates, succeed on and off the field, strive together, lead by example.
Values – Respect, Development, Community.

Our Junior teams learn the fundamentals of Rugby Union in the early years, ensuring the Juniors have a thorough understanding of the game before transition into tackle from age 8 and over.
